Liang Yong introduced that in recent years, the level of intensive, large-scale, mechanized and intelligent cotton production in Xinjiang has been greatly improved. In 2022, the cotton harvest rate in Xinjiang will reach 85.6% (80.9% in local areas, 95.5% in the Corps), and the cotton output of 25 major cotton growing counties, including Shawan and Shaya, will account for 90% of the cotton output in Xinjiang.

It is the mechanization, digitalization and intelligence that enable the development of the whole industrial chain of Xinjiang's cotton industry, which has significantly improved the per unit yield, total volume and quality of Xinjiang's cotton, significantly enhanced its international competitiveness, started to show the effect of industrial agglomeration, and increased the number of employees, making an important contribution to Xinjiang's economic development and social stability.

He said that a period ago, some social hot money hyped Xinjiang cotton production reduction, driving up the spot price of Xinjiang cotton futures. In the current situation of slow recovery of domestic consumption demand and sluggish textile and clothing exports, cotton demand growth is limited. How can cotton prices remain high?

He pointed out that the government would not ignore the lessons learned from the rise and fall of cotton prices, the decline of cotton quality, the difficulty of repaying loans for cotton processing enterprises with high inventories and the serious losses of cotton textile enterprises caused by the hot money speculation and the "cotton grabbing" war in 2021 to prevent industrial risks.

Liang Yong believes that the cotton output of Xinjiang region of China and its surrounding countries, such as India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, accounts for 60% of the global total cotton output. We can accelerate exchanges and cooperation between Xinjiang cotton industry and countries along the "Belt and Road" in technology, trade and investment, and promote the sustainable development of China's cotton industry.
