The 2019 China Import development report (hereinafter referred to as the "report") was held in Beijing.

The report points out that since the founding of new China 70 years ago, China's imports have been developing rapidly. In 1950, the total value of China's imports was only 583 million US dollars. In 1978, China's total imports exceeded 10 billion US dollars, reaching 10 billion 893 million US dollars, 18.68 times that of 1950. The total import volume in 2018 was about 9 times that in 2001, 136 times in 1979 and 3663 times in 1950. In the 70 years since the founding of new China, China has been ranked the second largest importer of goods in the world for 10 years in a row.

China ranks the second largest importer in the world in 10 consecutive years.

The report points out that in the 70 years since the founding of new China, China has been ranked the second largest importer of goods in the world for 10 consecutive years.

After the founding of new China, the Chinese government actively carried out external exchanges and trade contacts, and vigorously expanded its economic and trade activities with Asian and African countries. Under the government's efforts, China's total import volume exceeded 10 billion US dollars in 1978, reaching US $10 billion 893 million.

In addition, the report shows that the leap forward growth of China's import trade began after joining WTO in 2001. Since 2002, the total import volume of China has begun to show an exponential growth trend. China's import share of world imports has been maintained at around 10% since 2011.

At the same time, the opening of the product market based on the Import Expo is China's initiative to open up, and also to open up the initiative, and to open up high quality, which marks a new stage of China's opening up. China's initiative to expand imports is not to blindly expand imports, but to have a clear import purpose, not only to narrow the trade surplus, but also to serve the high quality development of domestic economy and meet the internal demand of domestic consumption upgrading.

Vigorously develop cross-border import electricity providers to stimulate domestic import potential

The report also pointed out that we should vigorously develop cross-border import electricity suppliers to stimulate domestic import potential.

At present, the scale of cross-border e-commerce transactions in China is expanding rapidly. In 2000 -2018, the scale of cross-border e-commerce in China increased from 50 billion yuan to 90000 billion yuan, and the proportion of cross-border e-commerce transactions to total trade increased from 1.27% to 29.5%.

Because of the rapid increase of overseas market demand and the acceleration of transformation and upgrading of foreign trade enterprises, exports have always dominated the cross-border electricity supplier transaction structure.

In 2018, exports accounted for 78.9% of China's cross-border electricity supplier transactions, and imports accounted for 21.1%. Although cross-border export electricity providers have always been in the leading position, the scale of cross-border import e-commerce transactions is far smaller than the scale of cross-border export electricity suppliers. However, the upgrading of domestic consumption and the expansion of import policies have promoted the development of cross-border import electricity suppliers, and the scale of cross-border import e-commerce transactions has been increasing.

In 2018, the opening of the first China International Import fair released more policy dividends for cross-border import electricity suppliers, and the scale of cross-border import e-commerce transactions amounted to 19000 billion yuan, accounting for 13.49% of the total imports of the country.
