The British government supports an industrial leading plan aimed at reviving the country.

In the next five years, 200 thousand new jobs will be created.

Because retailers want to constrain their supply chain expansion and rearrange some of their production bases from Asia to the United Kingdom, the British government will support a plan to build a garment manufacturing plant in the UK.

The move was inspired by a survey conducted by Trigon Diligence, a consultancy. The results of Trigon Diligence show that some high fashion items, such as high priced denim or shirts, are more economically viable in the UK than in China or other Asian countries, such as India or Bangladesh.

This is because when the suppliers from Asia buy goods at a high price, when the time of delivery, the importer finds that some products can only be sold at a discount price in the domestic market, because the fashion trend has changed.

On the other hand, it is feasible to get shorts in the UK, because British manufacturers have proved that they are quicker in adapting to design changes, and are also the result of a marked increase in labor costs and pport costs in Asia.

Although the government's actions seem correct, it seems that the support for the whole plan is only a small part, because the implementation of the plan requires millions of pounds of investment in the next few years.

Manufacturing is on the recovery track, resulting in massive employment.

However, the success of the plan requires a big change in the attitude of retailers. It is hard for retailers to focus on manufacturing in the UK.

Last year, sales of the textile industry in the United Kingdom amounted to 8 billion 100 million pounds, most of which came from exports of high value items. The clothing import of the textile industry came mainly from Asia, with an import volume of 17 billion pounds.

Trigon Diligence surveyed three categories.

Textile products

That is, the cost of 5 T-shirts, the cost of 75 sewing shirts and the 30 pounds of jeans, the survey concluded that because of the low production costs in Asia, British retailers bought these three items at a lower price, which ensured their high profits.

However, the rapid changes in fashion trends force retailers to sell many of their products at discounted prices because they have large orders, but they can't sell them completely because of fashion changes.
