Retail Sales In Four Seasons Are Slowly Growing

According to the statistics of the China National Business Information Center, the number of retail sales of major retail enterprises in the first three quarters of 2011 was higher than that of the same period last year, while the four quarter retail sales grew by 18.33% over the same period last year. The growth rate dropped by 3.3 percentage points over the same period last year, which was nearly 10 percentage points slower than that in the first quarter and the two quarter of 2011.


Consumer price movements and shopping card policies are the main reasons for the sharp decline in retail sales in the fourth quarter.

In 2011, under the pressure of overall price rise, clothing prices rose significantly, which had a certain impact on clothing sales.

According to the data from the China National Business Information Center, the number of retail sales and retail sales of all the major retail enterprises in China dropped in 2011, and the retail sales increased by 20.39% over the same period last year, down 2.19 percentage points from the same period in 2010, and the volume of retail sales increased by 4.88% over the same period last year, down 6.04 percentage points from the same period last year.


This trend lasted until 2012. The statistics released recently by the China National Business Information Center showed that the retail sales of all the major retail enterprises in the country showed a negative growth in the same period last year, -7.99%.

Among them, excluding the Spring Festival and other factors, the number of clothing retail sales of all the major retail enterprises in the country increased by 6.1% over the same period of 1-2 this year, representing a decrease of 22.13 percentage points over the same period last year, a new low in the past five years.


In February, retail sales of major categories of goods showed negative growth.

Retail sales of foodstuffs fell by 10.30% over the same period last year.

Retail sales fell by 8.55%. Gold and silver jewelry retail sales for the first time showed negative growth since December 2010. The growth rate was -2.00%, and household appliances retail sales fell by 2.67% over the same period last year.

From the cumulative growth rate in 1-2 months, the retail sales volume increased by 13.77%, 22.93 percentage points slower than that of the same period last year; the total retail sales of clothing increased by 6.10%, a 16.77 percentage point slower than that of the same period last year; the retail sales of gold, silver and jewellery increased by 16.25%, a 48.60 percentage point slower than that of the same period last year; the retail sales of household appliances increased by 1.11%, slowing by 18.01 percentage points over the same period last year.


Due to the advance of the Spring Festival, the consumption of new year's day and Spring Festival holidays has been released in advance, and consumer demand is relatively small in the first two months of this year.

Coupled with the southern rain and snow weather is not suitable for shopping and other reasons, many businessmen reflected the significant reduction in passenger traffic in February. Meanwhile, in February, price inflation further slowed down, and CPI rose 1.7 percentage points over the same period last year.

The growth rate of retail sales slowed for two consecutive months, resulting in a 1-2 increase in total retail sales for the 1-2 months, a 20.26 percentage point slower than the same period last year.


"Compared with the same period last year, most clothing sales growth has slowed down."

Industry experts said.

In 2012 1-2, the volume of retail sales of all kinds of clothing in a hundred major large retail enterprises decreased by 4.23% compared with the same period last year.

Among them, men's suits, leather clothing and women's wear were relatively good in retail sales, up 7.18%, 4.59% and 4.29% respectively, while the retail sales of knitted underwear, winter wear and Denim Wear fell by 14.50%, 9.11% and 8.22%, respectively.

Most clothing has slowed down to some extent over the same period in 2011.
