Thailand Unemployment Rate Ministry Of Commerce

According to the Thailand World Journal May 12th, the Thai National Statistical Office announced the employment figures for March 2011, with a total workforce of 38 million 430 thousand, employing 37 million 810 thousand people, 276000 unemployed, 0.7% unemployment, and 340 thousand unemployed by season.

The number of employed persons in March 2011 was divided into 13 million 70 thousand agricultural population and 24 million 740 thousand non agricultural population.


Compared with the same period in 2010, the number of employed persons increased by 210 thousand, from 37 million 600 thousand in March 2010 to 37 million 810 thousand.

Among them, the number of agricultural employment increased by 10 thousand, from 13 million 60 thousand in March 2010 to 13 million 70 thousand, and the number of non-agricultural employment increased by 200 thousand, from 24 million 540 thousand in the same period in 2010 to 24 million 740 thousand.


The increase in the number of non-agricultural employment has been divided into 220 thousand sectors, namely, the construction industry, 190 thousand households in household service, health care and other services, 150 thousand in the manufacturing sector, and 120 thousand in public services, national defense and social insurance.

At the same time, the number of people with reduced employment decreased by 340 thousand people in wholesale, retail and automobile repair industries.

The warehouse industry has reduced 230 thousand people, and the hotel and catering industry has reduced 60 thousand people.


From the unemployment situation in March 2011, the total number of unemployed people was 276000, with an unemployment rate of 0.7%.

Compared with the same period in 2010, the figure decreased by 92000, but compared with the February of 2011, the number of unemployed persons increased by 8000, from 268000 to 276 thousand.


The unemployed can be divided into 173000 persons with working experience, compared with 255000 in March 2010, a decrease of 82000.

Mainly from 75000 people in the service and trade sectors.

The remaining 103000 people have just entered the community without working experience.


The education level of the unemployed is mainly from 99000 graduates.

1.5%, a decrease of 17000 compared to the same period, followed by 58 thousand junior high school graduates, the unemployment rate was 0.9%, a decrease of 23000 compared with the same period last year; 52000 people graduated from primary schools, the unemployment rate was 0.6%, a year-on-year decrease of 15000; 46000 of senior high school graduates, the unemployment rate 0.9%, decreased by 22000 compared with the same period; and those who had no academic qualifications or qualifications were lower than those of primary school, and the unemployment rate was declining.


With regional division, the unemployment rate in Bangkok in March was the highest, reaching 1.2%, an increase of 0.5% over the same period last year, followed by 1% in the south, 0.3% in the same period last year, 0.6% in the central region, 0.5% in the same period last year, 0.7% in the north, and no change in the same period last year; 0.5% in the northeast and 0.5% lower in the same period last year.
